engage in reverse at a high rpm's

my car starts and runs fine but it will not go in gear in 1st and up but it will engage in reverse at a high rpm's Smokes thick white, used to drive better after about 3rd gear but it took a lot to get it going. Now it doesn't go in any foward moving gear. No heater or air conditioning.

Check the transmission modulator, it could be bad allowing transmission fluid to be burnt inside the engine.
