headlamps are not burning

fanbelt broke and battery was too drained to restart. i have recharged battery and fitted it. engine is okay. i still havent fitted new fanbelt. the headlamps are not burning. HAVE I OVERCHARGED THE BATTERY??? I live in Sweden and law states that I must drive with headlamps burning - night and day.

Are you able to turn the headlights on manually?
You did not overcharge the battery as overcharging can damage it. What you need to do is to fix the alternator as non charging of the system can cause the DRL to fail.
