I've got trans. to separate about an inch to a inch and a half but it won't go no further what's keeping it from coming apart

Check removal procedure as per Mitchell 1 and make sure you have not missed something, if you have done all in text, the input shaft may be stuck in the spigot bearing in the back of the crank shaft and you may just have to lever it a bit harder.
