My truck runs fine until i turn the heat on in the cab then the engine temperature goes up. What causes this

Therotically when heater is turned on, the temperture should drop as the blower motor fan is helping to reduce coolant temperature. The problem is most likely to be a faulty reading which is most likely be due to a poor ground circuit.
