1993 Toyota MR2 Jumpy Tach needle

When reving or driving, at around 2k to 3k rpm tach needle jumps and car hesitates. at about 4k rpm its smooth. i have not checked anything yet besides spark plugs and they look OK. i will change them and see if it helps.

Usually a jumpy tachometer is associated with the ignition coil. Have that tested.

Hi i checked it with a multimeter and it read 0.5ohms. not sure what its supposed to be at. what else do i need to check on it?

You need to check the primary and secondary resistance as per diagrams.

hey i changed out the ignition coil and still the same thing is happening. im going to try the igniter now

If engine is equipped with EGR, have it checked.
