I was trying to jump my car and when I connected the cables the red terminal caught on fire and melted the connectors. I think that the part that connects the cable to the battery is melted. There was some corrosion on the terminal, but I jumped it twenty minutes prior with no problems. What needs to be fixed, how do I fix it, and how much will it cost me?

It had to really heat up for that to happen. Have you had the starter checked to see how many amps it is drawing?

As far as the vehicle, is the battery old? Has it been going dead? Have you checked the alternator to see if it is working?
