1993 Plymouth Laser Got Battery About 4months Ago Wouldn T Hold Charge Just Put

Got a battery about 4months ago and then it wouldn't hold a charge so i just put in a new altenator and it still is only showing a 12 volt charge. i had to have battery charged up because i ran it completely down when altenator went out. So what else could be wrong?

have the new battery load tested as it may be faulty and what is the actual output voltage of the alternator?
