When I come to a complete stop and my transmission is in drive my idle drops to almost 0 and feels like my car is going to stall. A few times it has, what is causing this problem?

Could be an idle air control valve/throttle position sensor and EGR valve. This guide should help us

Engine Performance problem
1998 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the engine idles around 2000 rpm when cold, and when it is warmed up it idles around 900 to 1000 rpm. Is there any way i can adjust the idle down on this vehicle?

this seems to be fairly normal rpm for cold start and operating temperature idle. You might do more harm then good trying to tampering with the idle.

you can try cleaning the throttle body and iacv or even adjusting an idle screw if equipped but the idle speed is controlled by the ecm through the idle motor.

I would check ignition advance as high advance will raise idle speed. Also check for fuel pressure regulator leak.

Do you have a check engine light on?

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testin
