I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante and it stays stuck in 2nd gear, wont change gears. Whats wrong with it and How much is the part and is it something I could fix myself?

When in "LIMP MODE" the trans is usually stuck in 3rd gear, are you sure it is 2nd and not 3rd?

You need to check if there are any trouble codes for the transmission which could be the result of faulty sensors or solenoids. Does manually shifting makes any changes?
