why is my car backfiring?

we have replaced catalytic converter, muffler, plugs, wires, oil, filters, distributer, rotor button, and checked all injectors... Check engine light has not come on..nothing has changed... still backfires once it is warmed up and drives only for three miles til it backfires to the poiunt it shuts off....

Have you checked the timing? Timing belt? This has an interferance engine which means if the timing belt breaks, you will end up with internal engine damage to the pistons and valves.

we had it timed.. they said the belt looked fine
