when i give it too much gas, or even when it climbs up hill, the rpms jump from lets say 3,000 to 5 or 6000 until i let off the gas, even when i let off the gas it takes awhile to get down to normal.. what could be the cause

sounds like a trans issue. have a shop drive it and give you there opinion
