1993 Jeep Wrangler transmison

I have a 93 wrangler and I have found that I have can not put my gear shifter into 5th gear. The guy that owned the jeep before myself said he replaced the 5th gear snyconizer and he went threw all the gears than went too got back into the 5th gear and it would not stay in that gear I also am haveing that problem I have yet to drop the transmission because I wanna no what I would be looking for when I drop it.

You really should have a pro look at this especially if you don't know what to look for. But you need to see if there is propler engagement of the gearand synchro. There are two different 5 speeds that go in there a synchro could be broke, this is a common problem to slip out of 5th so it may be a bearing issue as well.
