Hi, I have a Del Sol with a 1.6 liter VTech that I recently blown head gasket in how to mechanic replace the engine he did a swap with a d15b4, I believe he may have gotten the engine cheap trying to save money. Then he tells me I need to replace the axles alternator timing belt ECU in a couple other things because they're not any good my question is were they actually bad or since he decided to put a different engine in my car they were no longer compatible (and maybe he didn't realize this at first)since I have these extra parts put on it's going to end up costing me almost $700 more than the original estimate I would like to get a second opinion so I can possibly dispute some of the bill thanks

It's probably because of wrong engine/trans combo and all that stuff has to be replaced to make it work.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I feel like I need to dispute at least some of that. Should he be liable for an error like this should he not have checked that the engine was compatible first?

Yes by all means he should have checked. If it's out of a 95 and up it won't work anyhow as it's obd2 system for computer and yours is obd1 neither are compatible.
