i have a honda 93 accord ex, there is excessive oil on the electrode in the combustion chamber. The engine lite goes on, then the car loses power. What can i do to fix the oil from entering the chamber without having to take it to the shop. thank you for your time in reviewing my problem.

Hi:
I wish I had an easy answer for you, but none of them are simple. If your spark plugs are getting oil filed, either you have worn rings, a leaky valve guide seal, or the oil return in the head (allows oil to drain back to the oil pan to recirculate) is plugged and is causing the valve cover to fill with oil and it is getting into the cylender.

That would be the easiest and cheapest fix. If you remove the valve cover, you will see places where the oil drains back to the oil pan. Make sure they are clear and not plugged. If they are clean, then you need to consider the other issues.

I would then check compression to see if the rings are bad. If the compression is low, pour a small amount of oil into the cylender and recheck compression quickly to see if it increases. If it does, then the rings are bad. If there is no change, then you have an issue with the valves.

Let me know if you have other questions.
