It could be your IAC

They get dirty, and their internals will sorta stick and not move freely.

This thing is the actually what does the Work to control the idle

Not long ago, I replaced the one on my wife's Ford Escape--I TOOK PICS!

Although yours does not look exactly like hers (I just went to Autozone On-Line and saw yours), they are located at the beginning of the intake (maybe not on top like hers), It EXTERNALLY "Jumps Over" the Big Butterfly valve (throttle plate)---OR--Bypasses it, allowing air to slip by (Computer tells IAC how much, constantly, to maintain a steady idle)

It is EZ to remove and clean, I figured with the age and miles hers had.I would just "Treat" Mr. Escape to a New one. Preventative Maintenance!

Here's her's. Remember yours is different looking, maybe on the side and not the top.I do not know your vehicle much at all.

Just a few bolts hold it on, just a quick clean up job, may VERIFY this may be the problem (costs you nothing, to find out!). Clean or replace is up to you.

Let me know if it was just that EZ
