I have a 1993 ford Tempo GL automatic with a 2.3l. It is having problems shifting out of first after it gets warm. I changed the speed sensor and it still did not solve the problem/shifts perfect untill the temp gage gets to about midway then it wont shift.

could also be internal soleniods getting hot and failing. they may be replacable by removing pan. if that system has a diagnostic plug you could have it tested.
