Replaced right CV joint, complete assembly

Replaced right cv joint, complete assembly. Drove 6 miles, stopped at stop sign, no forward or reverse then. Trans fluid is fine, however also, no park. But if putin gear the rpms climb gentlyand it shifts as if moving, can see the rpm rise drop back etc. Coincidence and trans is failed or cv related I have done dozens of these repairs. Any help thanks :-)

Suspect the spring is broken inside the inner cv joint and the housing popped out of the transmission. Chrysler used to have those springs available for three bucks. Ford is not as good about making older parts available so if the dealer doesn't have new springs, a Chrysler part might work.

First look at the inner joint to verify it is not fully seated in the transmission. Fluid may be leaking out too. Tug on the housing. If you can move it in and out of the transmission somewhat easily, that spring is broken. You should have to push really hard to get that joint to collapse, then it should spring back solidly on its own.
