93 Ford Ranger 4 wheel drive

I have a 93 Ford Ranger. There is a popping noise coming from front end when in 4 high and sometimes will not go in to 4 low.

Check ball joints and the CV joints on the front end. Also, check u-joints. As far as the lo range, check to make sure the actuator is getting power on the transfer case. If it is, remove the actuator and check it for operation. It is common for them to go bad.
