Clutch makes a strange noise some times.

Can a air conditioner compressor clutch be replaced with out removing the compressor on a Ford Escort with a 1.9L engine?

It can be done, but you need to have really flexable arms. The best access you can get is through the right inner fender. Make sure the car is securly lifted remove the tire and inner fender (plastic)
