Do you have a a separate trip odometer plus the regular one? If so, suspect a cracked gear inside the unit. Cars use those. The gear is available from speedometer repair shops but it would be faster to run to one of the pick-your-own-parts salvage yards and take one out of a speedometer head. I never replaced one but a couple of do-it-yourselfers reported it was a fairly easy job.
When just the trip odometer stops working, push the reset button in and let it snap back. Sometimes after moving a gear out of the way to allow the reset, it sticks and doesn't snap back into place under spring pressure.
A dead or intermittent fuel gauge is usually caused by the tab on the float arm in the tank. Drop the tank, remove the pump assembly, bend the plastic retaining finger just enough so you can slide the arm off, bend the tab(s) out 1/16" so they have a little more tension, then snap the arm back on.
