Fuel pumps on Chryslers rarely fail while driving, unlike on GM products, but when the brushes in the motor are worn, they will fail to start up intermittently. A quick trick is to bang on the bottom of the tank to jar the pump, ideally while a helper is cranking the engine. Also, you should hear the hum of the pump for one second after turning on the ignition switch. If you hear that hum, the pump is working.

Nope. You will never solve a running or no-start on a Chrysler product by replacing the fuel filter, except on the diesel trucks. They pass the largest volume of fuel during coasting. A plugged pickup screen in the tank will cause stalling when coasting from highway speed and it will run better when accelerating or cruising. I know that sounds backwards, but you have to remember that 99 percent of that fuel volume goes through the pressure regulator and right back into the tank. Only a tiny sample goes into the engine.
