Recently purchase truck, month ago replaced plugs wire cap rotor. Yesterday checked plugs and they were fouled badly, they had oil, carbon built up over electrode. I would think that it couldn't have been fireing. Its a93 chevy pickup with a v6 4.3L engine. Iremoved vavle cover to look at lifters and found it to be very clean like new. When I changed the plugs the frist time they were fouled badly. What do you think my problem is?

Has the check engine light come on? Is there any smoke from the exhaust?

I would try to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. There still could be a code there. Most parts stores will do it for free.

As far as the plugs, it is odd that they are oil filed and there is no smoke. Have you checked the catalytic converter to see if it is plugging? Also, have you done a compression test on the engine?

I checked compression and it was down a bit, so I removed the heads and checked valves. As you can imagine they were quite fouled.
So cleaned up valves and tops of cylinders. Put it back together today and I will start it up tomorrow and see whats up.

Let me know what happens. Check the compression to see if it increased.
