Why would my car keep turning off when I get to stop like at a atop light or a stop sign? I just replaced my alternator and belt but it has been sitting for at least a week before I had got the new alternator

A few things can cause a bad idle. Check for vacuum leaks and check the idle air control valve (IAC) .
