Why would my car making a tapping/knocking sound when I start it?

something in engine like valve lifter is out of oil and ticks/taps till it gets some oil. if noise does not go away after running awhile then it would have to be replaced.

you should have the oil pressure checked.delco had big problems with their oil pumps wearing out.they were droping the oil pan, then remove and replacing the oil pump.if the pump is not fully working your hurting your engine.l
