General question: If a car has a faulty oil sending unit that causes the vehicle to lose oil pressure, would that cause the engine to cut off?

Yes because once the car is running the fuel pump is connected to it. If the oil pressure is low it will automatically cut the fuel pump off sonot to destory the engine.

When the engine fires up the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit powers the fuel pump from there on out regarding the oil pump producing above 4 psi when it goes below it will cut it off or the oil pressure switch is out of calibration
