the idle seems to go from cold idle to hot idle speed, if i disconnect the vacuum supply to the MAP sensor the idle performs normal

Did you check fror trouble codes?
Disconnectng the MAP vacuum means the MIL would indicate and ECM would compensate for loss of signal from the MAP.

"The idle seems to go from cold idle to hot idle speed" Sorry I don't understand what is meant by this.
