My 92 Paseo surges after the engine warms up and it overheats and blows cold air through the heater. Are these problems related and what are the most likely causes?

They could be related. If it is overheating and blowing cold air, make sure the coolant level is full. If it is, replace the thermostat to see if that takes care of the problem. If that still doesn't work and you are sure there is no air in the system, I would then start considering a bad head gasket.

Let me know if you have other questions.
