I have a 92 toyota 4runner in need of a new transmission, (supposedly the mechanic says the vacum hose somehow sucked mud into my tranny which is now causing it the pressure to build and the tranny fluid to leak) what are my options? does this diagnosis sound plausible baised on the information i provided?

There is a breather that can get mud and water into it. What is the transmission doing other than leaking? Where is it leaking from? How bad is the leak?
