When I'm stopping my car will die. The temperature gauge reads in the middle between cold and hot but when it dies the word "hot" flashes above temp gauge. It starts back up and goes but then dies again when I stop.

Since it does it when it's cold (says hot), I would suspect you have a bad temperature sensor.
