Where is the thermostat located and how do I change it

We have no diagrams of the location follow the upper rad hose back to engine. Drain coolant remove bolts on t-stat housing remove tstat clean surfaces and reinstall new t-stat. Refill with coolant and start engine. Open air bleed on t-stat housing two to three turns to get air out once liquid comes through close it.
