1992 olds 88 back fires when you give it gas. idels good and has know pwer. cadalac converter is off.what could it be? would it be a rocker arm, or brain box.we have done changed plugs and wires and fule flitter .

Check ignition timing to make sure it is close. Check for major vacuum leaks (intake). Also, if the check engine light is on, scan the computer to determine which sensor is causing the issue (maf, map, O2, TPS, ...
