The battery cable on the positive side was cracked and replaced. The car cranked/started right away after a new one was installed and properly connected. As soon as the foot was removed from the accelorator it cut off and would not crank. Battery is fully charged, started connected and working and alternator is working and all lights, radio & heater function properly. What else could cause the car not to crank?

Have a friend turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage at the smaller wire going to the starter. You should have 12+ volts.

Let me know what you find.
