Where do I start to check too much fuel in exhaust from engine missfiring?

You can pull a plug and see what it looks like. It should be a tan/brown color if it is running right. It will be white if it is lean and black if it is rich or has too much gas. You may be able to smell gas in the exhaust or see soot built up around the exhaust pipe area. Since you may have other issues I am giving you a walk through diagnostic for your situation.
