suddenly started making noise unfder hood when accelerating or when stopped. checked and added water but car still makes noise. just bought car 2 days ago

Can't see or hear it over a computer. Have a mechanic listen to it. Could be as simple as a loose or broken harmonic balancer or as serious as internal engine damage.
