I am removing a manual transmission from a 92 GMC Sierra and I am trying to get this stick shift out where the forks Are so I can back the trans out. Any ideas, it looks like there is s dowel on one side. I don't see how I could get it out though.

Usually you remove the screws and pop the boot up then remove the shifter plate bolts and pop the shifter out of the transmission.

That's what I was thinking while I was taking rubber boot off, but I found there is not a cap or bolts. I am going to try and see what it pivots on. It looks like there is a dowel on one side. but the question is how do I remove the dowel ? Doesn't look like it drives out from the other side. Didn't see any other keepers.
