I have a 1992 gmc safari with r 12 system. The condenser had to be changed(a hole) but now how do i get it filled? I put 134 in it and it rattled so I had it taken out. Can you advise me seeing how I'm an older than this van ( at least no payment) ?

You must use R12 finding it will be a problem. Alternative is to use a drop in ecuivalent to R12. Or convert to R134 which would be expensive

The big deal with retrofitting is you have to get the old oil out of the system. you can remove the compressor to empty it, replace the accumulator and flush the evaporator. The condenser can be flushed if it is the serpentine type but if it is the bypass type, it will have to be removed and dumped out. Then you just have to change the fittings, add different oil and recharge it at 80% of original charge.
