1992 Ford Thunderbird Driver Side Car Door Does Close Been Determined That

My Driver side car door does not close and has been determined that the switch that closes the door shut will no longer go up on its own and we manually have to be moving the switch for it to close....Is there a way to fix this issue?

Have you tried spraying it with something like WD40?
