1992 Ford Laser Just Driving Along Engine Cut Out Could Cause This Lights

just driving along and engine cut out what could cause this... lights and radio etc were all working ok and then it started again and did the same thing and the breaks did not work and had to use the hand break to stop. can it be fixed?
