Battery light comes on after driving for a short time

I have a 1992 Ford Festiva. I was having problems with the battery, the car would run for a bit, then it would die so i replaced the battery and and alternator. battery light comes on after driving for a short time, then car acts like its gonna die

Check that the batter connections are clean and tight, what is the voltage reading at the main terminal at the back of the alternator with the engine running?
