I changed the water pump recently. behind the water pump there is a separate housing for what I guess is the timing chain cover , this casing is behind the lower right inlet from the radiator. which is now leaking after I installed the water pump from a crack along its seam. my question is the following.

the waterpump is sealed. I cannot remove the harmonic balancer to fix this new leak. will it leak into the oil pan if I just add coolant barsleak?

it will only leak if the crack goes into the back area of timing cover. and beyond the gasket which is about 3/8" wide there.
