1992 3.1 liter Lumina Transmission grinds when put into reverse.
There was also a grinding noise when applying brakes in [drive]. Applying brakes in [drive], the grinding noise lasted one second or less. I released brakes and reapplied and there was no grinding noise.
Is it the transmission or could it be the brakes?
Thank you

Grinds in reverse is an indication of internal transmission problem as for the brakes -have it inspected could be brake pads needed
