1992 Corvette LT1 Auto Trans. When you get on it hard and it shifts close to 5,000 rpm it seems to pop it the exhaust.

1992 corvette pops in the exhaust when it shifts at close to 5,000 rpm. It's an automatic LT1

could be a weak exhaust valve. a compression test will verify
if it is when you let off, the AIR diverter valve could be the issue.
If it is on accelaration, it also could be a worn camshaft lobe.
make sure the basics are covered like the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
