Removal

Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
Remove inflator module as previously described.
Remove two screws securing steering pad, then remove pad if equipped.
Disconnect electrical connectors and leads.
Remove retainer and nut, then, using suitable steering wheel puller tool.
Installation


Align mark on steering wheel with mark on shaft, then install nut. Torque to 25-30 ft. lbs.
Install retainer, then the steering wheel module.
Connect horn lead and install pad if equipped, securing with two attaching screws.
Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
