Brake warning light engages (and stays on until car is shut off) upon pushing down on brake pedal. Have checked the fuse system and replaced the brake stop switch. Brake fluid levels are good and not losing fluid. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Dash light or rear brake lights? If Dash light, the cap on the master might need to be replaced.

The sensor could also have been clogged with sludge. Remove the cap and lightly scrape the bottom of the reservoir with a screwdriver. If it comes up with a coating of sludge on the bottom, use a suction device to remove the old fluid and flush the system with at least fresh fluid, but preferably denatured alcohol. Then drain it, refill it and bleed the system properly.
