we are having difficulty starting our 1991 740 volvo...it seems to be flooding or something like that...it is usually in the morning but not always. I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor & hold the key over for a while & then let up a little once it starts in the early morning...it's been doing this for some time...& it seems to be getting worse...it has fuel injection but it act like it's flooded...& my husband said he had a very hard time starting after he got off work in the afternoon...& we have no money to take it to a mechanic...Baffled

Check the engine coolant temperature sensor, could be a leaky injector/s and fuel pressure regulator-fuel pump could be getting weak and excessive fuel pressure
