makes a noise when you start

On my 2l motor i put a golf 3 2l gearbox,with a 1.8 ring gear and clutch kit,it makes a noise when you start and burns the starters,y? Converted from 1.3 carb to 2l injection,changed gearbox,but don't know if 1.8 ring gear is the same as 2l,1.8 touches the inner gearbox and makes a noise,will the 2l clutch kit and flywheel do the same?

all the parts are different. remove the trans and start over . the ring gears are different and cannot be interchanged.

put the 2.0 back on the 2.0 motor and see if the starter lines up ok.

then you need to see if the clutch disc will work on the trans.
