Hello, as some of you know I have been here mainly about Scions.

Today we will talk about my VW. The question is, how do I replace the timing belt and align it properly with all steps included? This is my first time dealing with a belt, so please bare with me. Thanks.

Hi,

It sounds like you have a big job ahead of you.

Because of the model year, my manual is limited to the installation of a new belt. I attached the directions below.

As far as doing this is concerned, when you have things apart, check the different seals that could leak. For example, make sure the cam seal or crank seal isn't leaking. This is a good time to do it.

I hope this helps.

Take care,

joe
