What could be the problem if your car stauls or not is shifting when driven and stauls when stopped such as at a stop light

It could be several things. Is the check engine light on? When you say it isn't shifting, is it stuck in only one gear? As far as the stalling issue, have you checked for vacuum leaks as well as the idle air control valve (IAC)?
