Fusible links have different current ratings just like a fuse. Some manufacturers use real large fuses that they call fuse links. You replace one with another one with the same current rating. The current rating will be printed on top, or you can go by the color of the fuse body.

Some manufacturers use a wire called a fuse link or fuse link wire. That is just a short piece of wire that is smaller in diameter than the rest of the circuit so it's the weak link in the chain. The insulation is designed to not burn. You check that type by pulling on it. If it acts like a wire, it's good. If it acts like a rubber band, it's burned open. Those are replaced according to the color of the insulation.

You can buy both types of fuse links from any auto parts store. The fuse link wire will be long enough to be cut into two or three pieces so you can save some of it for a spare.
