pistons are no longer staggered

hi have mazda gtx and its broken, the pistons are no longer staggered i.e. 2 up 2 down, now all 4 are down, what would cause this? maybe crankshaft broken???

Did you pull head, how did you find this, it seems more logical that the pistons are even because two are coming up while two are going down, you caught it just right and they seems evenly down.
